WARSTARS
(and some other bands)
Ash St Saloon, Portland, OR
* * *
Warstars
was ready to destroy everything on stage at this show. A really
great show for the band and the Warheads. Andy Warstar was
once again posessed by the spirit of Kaptain Slogbaud and
hypnotized the ladies with his sexy physique.
Battleship Potamkin couldn't make it to this show, so Madame
Bortkill (Gryndor's girlfriend) was his stand-in as drum machine
operator. Also, this show marked the debut of second bassist
and satellite performer, Agent Smith.
Warstars actually left most of their equipment in tact at
this show, simply playing a fine set. Andy played a solo version
of "Attached 2 You" marked by Kreist Gryndor's occasional
screaming. Newer innovations, such as the Warstars Medley
marked progression in musicianship and style.
Warstars would never be the same after performing weird bits
like "Ghengis Khan". A version of "Molly's
Lips" was played harder than Nirvana or the Vaselines
ever concocted. Warstars version of Pink Floyd's "Interstellar
Overdrive" and Sinead O' Connor's "Black
Boys On Mopeds" shocked and amazed the audience.
Warstars finished the set off with "Teenage Lobotomy
Jam" again, which featured Kreist Gryndor on lead vocals.
