Orchidalgia
was founded in 1991 by Dale Hickey and Casey White. The name comes from medical terminology, and means "pain in the testicles". Orchidalgia lasted for a period of four weeks during the summer of 1991 and recorded one cassette worth of
material.
Orchidalgia had written only one song called "Encephilitis" (by Casey) when members joined with Michael Vile (Andy
Warstar) and Tammy Shampoo to create a four piece punk band. The
music was characterized by Dale's dabbling in the occult, both Dale
and Michael's experimentation with LSD, Casey's being an ex-skinhead
and thinking everyone was gay, and Tammy's wanting to play the flute
in every song, having purple hair, and being depressed.
Orchidalgia's demo, Flying Monkey Butts And Purple Violins
is available from Studio 57.
